The Baku International Motor Show (BIMS 2014) starts on 15 May at Baku Expo Center. The exhibition brings together under one roof Azerbaijani and foreign manufacturers, distributors and dealers of famous brands of automotive technology and components. This project is officially supported by Azerbaijan Automobile Federation, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The international status of the exhibition is confirmed by the quality mark of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. The exhibition is organized by Iteca Caspian LLC and its partner company, ITE Group Plc. Toyota is acting as a sponsor at BIMS 2014. The official partners of all exhibitions in 2014 are JW Marriott Absheron Baku and Caucas Point Hotel (as the official hotels), Greenwich Travel Club (as the official tour operator), and SafeLife (as the official security partner).
BIMS 2014 presents 85 companies from 14 countries, including China, Germany, Poland, Russia and Turkey. It is encouraging that local companies are holding 55% of the expositional area. Three major sections will be aimed at motorists and industry professionals: cars and motorcycles, commercial vehicles, and automotive parts and accessories. Among the exhibitors are distributors for international manufacturers in the field of automotive engineering, including Toyota, Lexus, Suzuki and Volvo. Motorcycle dealers will present models such as Aprilia, Suzuki, Harley Davidson, Vespa, Bike-Lift, Yamaha, Haojue and Piaggio Zontes Scoyco Polaris.
Due to the dynamic development of the transport sector in Azerbaijan, commercial transport is well represented at BIMS 2014. Located on the fairground and in the outside area, the commercial vehicles section will showcase haulers, dump trucks and semi-trailers for the transportation of various types of products from manufacturers such as GAZ, HOVO, Isuzu, MANN and Mitsubishi.
The development of the global automotive industry would be impossible without automotive components, accessories and spare parts. In this regard, the section for automotive parts, motor oil and filters, automobile cosmetics and other automotive chemical products will play a significant role in the exhibition. Tuning studios are also participating in the exhibition. Within the framework of the business programme of this section, on 16 May Baku Expo Center will host a seminar on “Bahco-Automotive tools” which will be conducted by Khazar Electron.
The main events will be presentations at the exhibition, which will be conducted both at the stands of the companies, and in a special arena. The programme of presentations includes those by brands such as Suzuki (SX4 S CROSS), Great Wall and Volvo, and also the premiere of the Lexus hybrid models (Lexus RX Hybrid, Lexus GS Hybrid). Thus, visitors to BIMS will get the unique chance to become the first owners of new products on the Azerbaijani car market.
The good impressions from the colourful presentations of the cars will be complemented with test drives, which will be held every day at a site adjacent to Baku Expo Center. Test drives will be offered by the following companies: Toyota, Lexus, Harley Davidson Fat Bob, Vespa, Great Wall and Harley Davidson Sportster SuperLow. A detailed schedule of the presentations and test drives can be found at www.bims.az.
