Caspian Oil and Gas 2014, the largest event in the energy sector of the Caspian region, will take place from the 3 to 6 of June at the Baku Expo Center. Every year, Caspian Oil and Gas gathers leading specialists and leading enterprises in the oil and gas industry to demonstrate advanced technologies for the extraction and processing of oil and gas, transportation and logistics and industry related services. The exhibition offers an opportunity to discuss trends in the development of the oil and gas market, potential prospects for cooperation in the Caspian region and the development of solutions for energy security issues around the world.
This year will be the 20 year anniversary of the signing of the Contract of the Century, which is one of the most important events in the history of the Oil and Gas industry of Azerbaijan. The first Caspian Oil and Gas event took place in 1994 before the signing of the Contract of the Century in September, which signified the beginning of a new period in the development of the oil and gas industry and the economy of Azerbaijan as a whole. Then, the initiative of organising the first specialised exhibition in the oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan was supported by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The Caspian Oil and Gas exhibition has remained the meeting place for the leading professionals in the field of oil, has and energy, where memoranda, agreements and contracts for future cooperation are signed.
The prominent status of the exhibition is underlined by the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the exhibition opening ceremony, as well as by his provision of a welcome address for exhibition and conference participants. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have also provided valuable support to the Caspian Oil and Gas exhibition.
The organisers of the exhibition and conference are ITE Group Plc and their partners Iteca Caspian LLC. ITE Group PLC partners working to ensure the success of the exhibition include ITE London, ITE LLC Moscow (Russia), EUF (Turkey), GIMA (Germany), ITE China (People's Republic of China), ITE Gulf (UAE), which have been involved in attracting international companies to exhibit at the event. The exhibition has had the "UFI Approved Event" status awarded by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry for the past 9 years. The "UFI Approved Event" status certifies that the exhibition meets all international standards.
Every year, the exhibition and conference plays host to important guests of honour that take part in the grand opening ceremony. VIP guests at Caspian Oil & Gas 2014 will include UK Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan Charles Hendry, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania Jaroslav Neverovič, Deputy Minister of Royal Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy Kare Fostervold, First Deputy Minister of Power and Natural Resources Metin Kilci, Deputy Minister of Transport of Turkey Feridun Bilgin, Ambassador at Large for Energy from MFA of Bulgaria Lachezar Matev, CEO of BP Robert Dudley, Senior Advisor on Energy Resources of U.S. Department of State Daniel Stein, Secretary General of the Energy Charter Urban Rusnák, and others.
402 companies from 29 countries will present their products and services at the exhibition. More than 70% of the exhibition area is occupied by companies famous around the world. They include companies that were involved in the Contract of the Century - State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), BP, Statoil, OMV, TPAO, Lukoil and many others. Almost all of the debut exhibitors are using the exhibition as a launchpad for introducing their business to the Caspian region and have never entered the market of Azerbaijan before. The constant renewal and growth of the Caspian Oil and Gas exhibition underlines the ongoing interest it attracts from the international oil and gas community. Local companies comprise 35% of the total number of exhibitors, while the total growth of the exhibition has reached 10%.
The exhibition area takes up three pavilions of the Baku Expo Center rand the open air exhibition space. The event is divided into sections, including new technologies in oil extraction and energy resource transportation, storage systems for oil and gas, current and future oil and gas projects in the region and other important fields. Oil and Gas equipment will be paid special attention by the exhibitors to coincide with the Year of Industry in Azerbaijan.
The status of the event is also underlined by the prominence of companies sponsoring the exhibition. The General Sponsor of COG 2014 will be the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the Gold Sponsors will be BP Azerbaijan and Baker Hughes, the Silver Sponsors will include Nobel Oil LTD and Caspian Drilling Company and the Bronze Sponsors will be Ballast Pipeline SVAP, Dassault Systèmes and SNF VOSTOK, Azfen J.V., Azeri M-I Drilling Fluids, Bos Shelf, RussNeft, Caspian Marine Services and Tekfen Construction and Installation Co,. INC. The official vehicle of Caspian Oil & Gas 2014 is Toyota.
For the second year running, a "Meet the buyer" event from BP and their partners in the Azeri–Chirag–Guneshli, Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan, Shahdeniz, and the South Caucasus Pipeline projects will take place at the exhibition. Local companies specialised in operational supply, engineering, construction, the organisation of waste collection and disposal and the provision of various business services will take part in the event.
The four day exhibition will also feature a substantial business programme. Companies will run seminars which are relevant to a wide range of professionals in the oil and gas industry. On the 4th of June, Intertech Corporation will hold a seminar on "Modern analytical equipment for the oil industry and environmental protection". On June 5, 2014 in Baku Expo Center will take place an event which will pass a master class for participants of the organization "Youth inc". "Youth inc." is a joint program of DVC, Coca Cola and the Youth and Sports Ministry. The purpose of program is development of the concept "youth entrepreneurship" and supporting youth in establishment of own business.
