The Azerbaijan International Defence Industry Exhibition (ADEX 2014) will take place for the first time from the 11th to 13th September at the Baku Expo Center. The 1st exhibition will become a grand display of modern weaponry and technology and a demonstration of the power of the national defence of the country. The exhibition will be organised under the initiative and with the support of the Ministry of the Defence Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Organisation Partners of ADEX 2014 are Iteca Caspian and Caspian Event Organisers (CEO).
The idea for the creation of a military exhibition was born out of the success of the defence industry in recent years. Economic progress in all sectors of the economy established the role of Azerbaijan as an important player and strategic partner on the regional and international markets. Projects initiated by the government of the Republic have a positive influence on security and the development of cooperation in the region.
The military industrial complex of Azerbaijan has implemented a number of major projects and has had a major increase in its capabilities. Azerbaijan currently produces 900 different defence products, including all types of ammunition, machinery and weaponry. The Ministry of Defence Industry of Azerbaijan is increasing its military and technological cooperation with many countries on the basis of joint activities and partnership. The industry has reached a level where the organisation of an exhibition is a necessity. A strong state needs a strong army. ADEX 2014 will be a reflection of this concept, featuring the presentation of the latest achievement of the foreign exhibitors and the defence industry of Azerbaijan.
The relevance and importance of the exhibition for the region is shown by the fact that the exhibition has attracted great interest from state bodies, business communities and industrial organisations from Azerbaijan and other countries. Even though it is an inaugural event, ADEX 2014 has attracted 200 companies from 34 countries and 22 official delegations, which will take up 3 pavilions of the Baku Expo Center. 8 national groups from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Belarus, South Korea, Poland, Israel and Ukraine will present their displays at the exhibition. Other well represented companies among the exhibitors are from Turkey (37 companies), Israel (16 companies), Poland (16 companies), and Belarus (10 companies).
The Platinum Sponsor of the exhibition will be shipbuilding company Damen Shipyards Group from the Netherlands. The Gold Sponsor exhibition will be military systems developer Roketsan from Turkey. The great interest towards ADEX 2014 from international delegations and companies is yet another confirmation of the important role and significance of Azerbaijan as an important strategic partner in the region.
The demonstration of the latest achievements of industrial enterprises will be divided into 6 subjects: the armaments and technologies of land forces and navy, aviation and aviation armaments, air defence systems and equipment, specialised equipment, information technologies, communication systems and equipment, logistical and technical support and space technologies.
The exhibition will also feature a wide ranging business programme, an important part of which will be bilateral meetings between the heads of industry related ministries, producers and clients. There will be an opportunity to discuss current issues in modern military technology policy at the "Contemporary warfare and security challenges" which will take place on the 12th of September at the Jumeiragh Bilgah Beach hotel. Over 200 specialists, military experts and representatives of state bodies and businesses are expected to take part in the conference.
In this way, ADEX 2014 will offer members of the foreign business community the opportunity to meet representatives of the defence industry and have direct contact with high ranking officials that make decisions and determine the directions if development of the military industrial complex of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
