The “Gələcəyini qur!” (“Build Your Future!”) project won third place in the ‘Best Educational Project’ category in the CSR Excellence Awards organized by AmCham. In total, more than 60 projects in 9 categories were nominated for an award. Seventeen projects implemented by the country’s leading companies in corporate social responsibility participated in the Education category.
The “Gələcəyini qur!” (“Build your future!”) project aims to support and contribute to ensuring that bright schoolchildren from low-income families get the chance to receive a higher education at the country’s best universities.
Various companies and partner companies participate in the implementation of the project in the framework of their corporate social responsibility and sustainable development policies. The project kicked off in April 2014. Talented young people were selected from two towns – Garadagh and Binagadi. About five hundred tenth-grade pupils from sixty schools passed the competitive selection process. As a result, the 43 who best demonstrated their desire to improve their knowledge were selected.
Under the project, the selected pupils have been attending free year-long special training courses in order to improve their knowledge and skills before further assessment for admission to the country’s leading universities. Alongside this, trainings and seminars on various topics, presentations by leading universities, visits to international exhibitions, meetings with successful representatives of the younger generation and other events have been organized for the comprehensive individual development of the young people and the successful planning of their careers. Thus, on 11 October, in the framework of the 8th Azerbaijan International Education Exhibition, a presentation of the “Gələcəyini qur!” (“Build your future!”) project was held for the corporate sector. At the Education exhibition the project’s participants met with representatives of leading companies in the oil, banking and IT industries, and learnt about the various opportunities and peculiarities of a career in these sectors. Another meeting of the young participants was held on 22 December at ADA University, where university representatives described the educational opportunities on offer at their university as well as explaining the importance of planning, time management and other productivity skills for a successful education and future career.
The sponsors of the project are Iteca Caspian and R.I.S.K. The project’s partners are ADA University and KAINAT Education Centre, where the future school leavers are being actively trained for admission to university. The project is being implemented by CSR Consulting & Management. More detailed information about the project is available on www.geleceyiniqur.az.
