Road and Traffic 2013, the 3rd Caspian International Road Infrastructure and Public Transport Exhibition, will take place on 13 - 15 June 2013 at Baku Expo Centre, and will offer a panorama of the Caspian Region’s road infrastructure. The exhibition will bring together 62 companies, with a record number of countries represented by the exhibitors. This year, Greece, Italy and Singapore will be represented for the first time. Four state bodies of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Transport – the State Road Transport Service, AzerYolServis, the Baku Intelligent Transport Management Centre and the Baku Metro – will also exhibit alongside commercial companies. Newcomers make up 30% of all exhibitors this year, a figure which has helped the event to grow by 20% compared to last year.Road and Traffic 2013 is divided into themed sections, one of which is road infrastructure, a key area for Azerbaijan due to extensive redevelopment of old and the construction of new roads, pedestrian crossings and bridges. In this regard, Azerbaijani, French, German and Turkish companies will present a large range of road building equipment and materials, infrastructure and services at the event.Work on establishing and enhancing intelligent transport management is also continuing in Azerbaijan, with a new payment system planned that will require ticket barriers, card reading machines, payment terminals, and payment cards themselves. All this and more will be presented at the IT in Transport sector. Public transport is also represented at Road & Traffic. Baku is planning to acquire 1,200 buses and 2,000 taxis in time for the European Games in 2015, which will be reflected at this section of the exhibition. As well as this, big changes are planned for the Baku Metro – five new stations and updated rolling stock – and in this regard Road & Traffic 2013 will showcase both equipment and technology for metro system and tunnel building, as well as train carriage manufacturing, metro equipment and system technology.Held within a boom period in Azerbaijani transport, Road & Traffic 2013 is an excellent platform for business discussions and making contacts.
