TransCaspian 2013, the 12th International Transport, Transit and Logistics Exhibition, will open on 13 June 2013 at the Baku Expo Centre. TransCaspian is an important transport forum for the Caucasus Region that promotes infrastructural development in Azerbaijan and showcases the country’s potential as a freight transit hub. 70 companies will exhibit at TransCaspian this year, 40% newcomers, helping exhibition space to increase 20% compared to last year. Making up half of all exhibitors, international companies have a strong presence, with exhibitors representing Austria, Georgia, Italy, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, France, the Czech Republic and other countries. Sweden and Romania are represented for the first time, and a Latvian national stand will return this year for its third outing at the event. As well as commercial companies, the exhibitor list includes several Azerbaijan state transport bodies – the Ministry of Transport, Azerbaijan Railways, the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company, and the State Road Transport Service.A large amount of new transport projects are currently underway in Azerbaijan, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars rail link, a new airport in Baku, a new sea port in Alyaty and a new shipyard, projects which confirm the growing potential of the country. All these promising areas are reflected at the exhibition within sectors such as rail and road transport, sea and land freight, ports and port equipment, oil transportation, IT, and navigation and monitoring systems. The freight sector features Georgian, Russian and Azerbaijani exhibitors, and the Shipbuilding and Ship Repair sector, this year presenting companies from Sweden, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, has also expanded. All this means that TransCaspian offers an excellent chance to share experience, assess the market, hold business meetings and establish new links – making it an important strategic event for the industry.TransCaspian has been supported by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan and worked closely with TRACECA since its launch. The exhibition is also supported by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers') Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
